HALLOWEEN is right around the corner, and for those of you afraid of the spooky and supernatural, you are in the right place.

Coventry and Warwickshire are among the least haunted regions in England, according to new research.

Property specialists Sellhousefast. uk have compiled a list of the most haunted areas in the country, tallying up every paranormal account recorded on the very spooky sounding Paranormal Database.

And disappointingly for ghost hunters in our part of the world, Warwickshire ranks at 34 out of 36, with just 116 entries in the database.

Coventry is slightly scarier, as the West Midlands comes in at 28th on the list.

If you do want a fright, Yorkshire is the place to be.

The county, known for its Norman castles and creepy medieval abbeys, tops the table with 685 entries.

Some of the frights recorded in Yorkshire include trolls, headless highwaymen and even a couple of barguests - a mythical black dog with large teeth and claws.

It is unclear what would distinguish these mythical creatures with actual living black dogs.

Rounding out the top five are Greater London (622 entries), Lancashire (548), Essex (479) and Sussex (427).

On the flip side, the Isle of Wight appears to be the least haunted region, with just 76 entries.

It may not be the most accessible place to get to, but that’s the price to pay for avoiding a fright.

Warwickshire and Leicestershire appear to be on a par, with just one less entry recorded in the county of our eastern neighbours.

Other areas where frights are few and far between are Bedfordshire (120), Buckinghamshire (123) and Staffordshire (125).

In total, there have been some 11,900 recorded entries of paranormal activity in the UK, and with Halloween fast approaching, this could well increase.
