COVENTRY’S most famous woman has been made the subject of a pin badge as part of a series of collectables celebrating the city.

Lady Godiva is the latest icon immortalised in the badges produced by local firm Etch and Pin, which is releasing a new Coventry-related pin badge each month.

October saw Etch and Pin team-up with a local children’s cancer charity, which recently helped turn the Coventry city centre Lady Godiva statue gold.

Aaron Ashmore, owner of Etch & Pin, said: “Lady Godiva is perhaps the Coventry icon most known around the world, so it only felt right that we recognise her importance to the city in one of our collectable pin badges.”

The Lady Godiva badge launched in October and follows previous badges that include the Coventry Ring Road and the three spires which are a prominent feature of the city skyline.

Etch and Pin donates £1 from every badge sold to a different Coventry charity each month and has raised almost £750 for local charities so far.

During October, Etch and Pin partnered with Shine A Light Support Service, which supports families in Coventry and Warwickshire affected by childhood cancer.

Shine A Light was involved in the Lady Godiva statue in Broadgate being lit up in gold in September to help raise awareness of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Sam Schoolar, chair of Shine a Light, said: “Donations and fundraising help us to increase the support we offer to families, so we were delighted when Etch and Pin chose to partner with us in October.

“Money raised from sales of the badge could go towards one of the family packs which families that have a child diagnosed with cancer receive when they register with us, or towards a social evening for our teen group.”

Speaking about the success of the pin badges so far Aaron said: “The response to our Coventry badges over the past few months has been exceptional and we look forward to producing more badges for the people of Coventry.”
