TWO masked robbers are being hunted by police after storming a Coventry supermarket armed with machetes and threatening staff.

The men started shouting at staff working in the Sainsbury’s store in Canley after bursting into the supermarket at around 10.40pm on Saturday (November 24).

But they quickly fled the scene empty-handed.

Thankfully, none of the staff at the Fletchamstead Highway store were injured. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Being the victim of a robbery is a frightening experience.

“We understand that even if you’re not physically hurt it can be extremely distressing to be threatened with violence.”

A spokesman for Sainsbury’s added: “We can confirm an incident took place at our Canley store on Saturday.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt and we’re supporting police with their investigation.”
