MP’s HIV revelation

A LABOUR MP has revealed he is HIV positive in an emotional speech to the House of Commons.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle, Labour MP for Brighton Kemptown, is the only current sitting MP to disclose he is living with the virus.

The 32-year-old, from Brighton, said that cuts to public health meant he could not “keep quiet” about an issue which affects him “so personally”. He felt “relieved” to announce he is living with the virus, which damages the immune system’s cells. AN IRANIAN immigrant has been found guilty of strangling an elderly widow to avoid being thrown off his allotment.

Rahim Mohammadi killed 80-year-old Lea Adri-Soejoko with a lawnmower flex and hid her body at Colindale allotments in north London in February last year.

The allotment secretary was found dead in a locked mower shed. Mohammadi, 42, from Hackney, was found guilty of her murder following a retrial at the Old Bailey.

Prosecutor John Price QC had told jurors that in September 2016, the Iranian clashed with Mrs Adri-Soejoko at an allotment association meeting. The prosecution said Mohammadi had planned to move her to avoid suspicion being cast at him, but police following the sound of her ringing phone found the body before he could act.

Mohammadi sought political asylum in Britain in 2005 and was given indefinite leave to remain in 2010.

He will be sentenced today.
