Ghostly goings-on at Coombe Abbey

- By JAMES RODGER

A GHOST hunt at Coombe Abbey near Coventry proved to be the perfect paranormal event - so much so that organisers have already booked for 2019.

Strange voices, moving chairs, and doors opening were all experienced by investigators who took part in a four-day conference - Sage Paracon - at the former Cistercian monastery.

Investigators were so impressed with the findings that they have already confirmed the dates for next year’s event and will be returning to the venue.

Guest speakers from around the globe including paranormal experts and stars from ghostly TV shows including Paranormal Lockdown, Help! My House Is Haunted and Haunted Hospitals gathered to contact the spirits of the 12th century manor house.

But all the action from the ‘other side’ happened including a chair moving 2ft across a room all by itself and the figure of a child was seen in the nursery.

MJ Dickson, founder and lead investigator for Sage Paracon has detailed the ghostlygoings-on the group experienced when investigating the award-winning hotel.

She said: “We started our investigation at Coombe and were expecting to have quite an active night as there have been many reported sightings of ghosts at the Abbey over the years.

“We heard plenty of disembodied voices and ghostly footsteps and all of our investigators were in complete shock when a chair moved 2ft across the room.

“We were incredibly lucky to capture some compelling evidence of the figure of a child which appeared on our specialised SLS camera in what used to be the old nursery.

“By the end of the investigation we were all thoroughly spooked and I even experienced some activity when I was on my own in my room when the wardrobe door opened and the bathroom faucet turned itself on.

“Having heard the spooky stories from the Abbey and experiencing our own paranormal activity we are thrilled to be returning to Coombe Abbey for Sage Paracon in November 2019 thanks to the fantastic service from the staff and the ample spooky evidence we were able to collect.”

Ron Terry, general manager at Coombe Abbey, added: “We loved being able to host the Paranormal Convention at Coombe and have the rich history of our hotel explored by experts in the paranormal field.

“The investigators witnessed some really interesting paranormal phenomenon before enjoying the fourcourse meal at our Medieval Banquet and a VIP Vampire Masquerade Ball. We’re looking forward to welcoming Sage Paracon back to Coombe for another weekend of paranormal investigation, it’ll be great to see what other ghosts they experience on their next visit with us.”
