MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #1

FOR Spidey fans who have already seen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales needs no introduction.

The Brooklyn student first appeared as the web slinger in 2011 in the opening story arc of Ultimate Comics – filling the void left by the death of Peter Parker. Since then Miles has gone on to become a feature in the main Marvel universe.

In this new adventure we find him struggling to balance his normal life, and school life with superheroing. But when the Rhino and a cadre of mysterious criminals start plaguing Brooklyn, things take a dark turn.

Written by Saladin Ahmed, with art by Javi Garron, Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 is out now (£3.35).

FREEDOM FIGHTERS #1 THIS marks the start of a year-long maxi series set on Earth X, where the Nazis won the Second World War.

More than 20 years after invading and occupying America, Germany wiped out all metahuman resistance, including the original Freedom Fighters.

Fast-forward to the present day, and a new team of Freedom Fighters emerges to challenge the Nazi occupation. But if they’re to have any chance of victory, they’re going to need Uncle Sam – who disappeared after his original team was killed.

Written by Robert Venditti, with art by Eddy Barrows, Freedom Fighters #1 is out now (£3.35).

THE WITCHER #1 (OF FLESH & FLAME) WITH Henry Cavill set to play Geralt in a new The Witcher Netflix series next year, the monster hunter is set to hit the mainstream.

If you’re unfamiliar with the character, which started life as a video game, this new comic series could be a great starting point.

Geralt is summoned by an old friend to help solve a mystery involving his daughter. Upon arriving to investigate, however, Geralt is surprised by another friend from the past and finds himself transported to regions beyond his original expectations.

Written by Aleksandra Motyka, with art by Marianna Strychowska, The Witcher #1 (Of Flesh & Flame) is out now (£3.35).
