Striker set to arrive ‘by end of the month’

-

MARK Robins has revealed exactly when he hopes to have a new striker to boost his goal shy Coventry City attack.

The Sky Blues boss says the loan player’s parent club will let their man out to get game time at the Ricoh Arena before the end of the month.

“The one that we have ready to come in still isn’t with us but we will be looking to do that after the 26th,” he said, “and hopefully it will be concluded before the window closes. They (the parent club) have got to think about themselves first so we have looked at it and got an agreement with them, and I have said I am prepared to hang on until that happens.

“We’re effectively waiting three games.”

Asked if the loan signing is likely to be a development level player similar to City’s existing loans from Championship and Premier League clubs, Robins said: “It’s not a hugely experienced player but someone who does have some experience. It’s an interesting one and along the model that we have.”

City are also planning ahead for the next transfer window, able to talk to players at other clubs who will be out of contract in the summer.

And Robins and his recruitment team are being extremely pro-active, revealing: “We are doing loads of work that won’t come to fruition until the summer. There’s a lot of movement on that front.”
