The council has no control over buses

-

YOUR correspondent (B Morton of Green Lane) has noticed that the new buses are dark grey (Letters, January 10), let me explain why.

These new buses are National Express’s premium brand called ‘Platinum’ they are therefore painted to highlight that fact. All other buses that do not have the features that they have (free wifi and USB charging points) will remain in the blue livery.

As to his comment about whether the council were consulted, may I remind him that the council has had no control over the buses since April 1, 1974 when they were transferred to the West Midlands PTE, the predecessors of National Express. Pat Bidmead,a Nuneaton Noticed a friend at the checkout she knew,

Paying for a straw hat looking happy too.

Next time she saw her she admitted a fact,

She had been a witness to her buying a hat,

She said must share her taste at what she saw,

And joked that this was not against the law.

Her friend looked puzzled for a while,

Then she remembered with a smile, “That hat was not for me” she then said,

“But was for a scarecrow I had made instead”
