New gym for Cov

- By LAURA HARTLEY News Reporter laura.hartley@reachplc.com

A NEW gym with a difference is set to open in Coventry - giving people the chance for a more tailored training session.

Opening on St Nicholas Street, the gym will offer coach-led sessions only.

Rather than the traditional gym which is open for use throughout the day and users can drop in and exercise on their own accord, the proposed gym will offer classes on a more personalised level.

The planning application has just been approved, so work is expected to transform the first floor office space iminently.

The large open plan area to be used as the gym, and related facilities for such use, including bathrooms, changing room, a reception area and office.

The gym will not only bring the vacant unit back to full use, but will also bring in more employment opportunities.

The development is expected to generate approximately six or seven (full-time equivalent) job opportunities.

This will include positions such as gym coaches, administrator and receptionist, and cleaner.

Most of those positions are likely to be filled by people from the local area.

A Coventry University student founded the gym nearly ten years ago after graduating.

Sam Opie founded Paradigm Fitness UK back in 2011 after graduating with a Sport and Exercise science degree from Coventry University.

He devotes his time to helping women in the UK get off the frustrating yo-yo diet and instead achieve a life long transformation.

The gym has only just had planning permission granted, so an opening date is yet to be confirmed.
