MINDLESS vandals smashed the windows of a police car in Coventry while officers attended a job.

A photo of the vandalised vehicle was posted on Twitter by the West Midlands Police Force Response team.

It shows the passenger side of the vehicle with both its front and back windows completely shattered.

The Twitter post reads: “B unit Cov - our colleagues on D unit responding to a job come back to find this.

“Mindless vandalism and another car off the road.”

Other Twitter users were quick to condemn the attack with some pointing out that the one of the fleet being off the road and in need of repair is far from ideal when police numbers are low and budgets are being cut.

Kay replied: “Well that’s helpful!! Much needed vehicle off the road, plus costs to fix it when budgets are so tight!! Then folk moan that no police about. Hope you catch the toe rags!”

Chris Ormsby commented: “They did that to 3 @MerPolTraffic vehicles the other week here, they would be quick to moan if there car was robbed and no resources to locate or stop that drunk driver who may hit them/children.”

Merrellfeb02 said: “Shocking... seems that emergency services vehicles being targeted is the latest thing... these mindless idiots don’t realise (or don’t care) about the impact it has.”
