BEST OF THE REST

-

MOTHER FATHERSON BBC2, 9pm

A FRAGMENTED first episode was a bit confusing to follow, but here is the gist.

Max (a captivating Richard Gere, pictured) is a powerful media magnate, his estranged wife Kathryn (Helen McRory) has been ousted from the family and is working at a homeless shelter and their son Caden (Billy Howle) has had a drink and drug-fuelled breakdown and stroke.

Now, with their son fighting for his life in hospital, it’s time to find out more about Max and Kathryn’s relationship and how they battled for custody.

There are heartbreaking scenes from Caden’s childhood when his mother was forced to leave, and we start to find out more about the secrets of Max’s empire.

Back at the hospital, Caden is in a coma. Will he wake up and if so, will he ever be the same again?

Full of family politics, tension and cruelty, this instalment packs an emotional punch.

BOUNTY HUNTERS SKY1, 10pm

JACK Whitehall’s usual character of bumbling posh Brit serves up a nice counterpart to a no-nonsense bounty hunter in this chalk and cheese comedy.

Series two picks up exactly where the last one left off, with the pair stuck in the desert with an angry drug lord in their car boot.

Barnaby (Whitehall, above) and Nina (Rosie Perez) have also been left with two million dollars worth of cocaine, making it ever-so-slightly more difficult to buy things.

“Oh I always overpay on holidays,” moans Barnaby, who has accidentally given a motel owner 10,000 dollars worth of drugs to pay for a room.

In more pressing news, Barnaby’s sister Leah is locked up in a Mexican prison and the cartel is hot on their heels as they try to flee Mexico.

They realise that their only way out is on Barnaby’s temporary passport with Nina posing as his wife.
