The latest incident is the 12th stabbing in Coventry this year.

Last year two people were charged with stabbing a man with a pair of scissors in the city centre.

Other recent incidents saw a teenage girl suffer a head wound in a scissor attack and a man being stabbed by masked raiders at Godiva Place student accommodation.

Last week saw police in the city take part in the national Operation Sceptre which saw a week of activities including weapons sweeps, the use of stop and search powers and talks in schools. During a search of a city centre park, several weapons were uncovered.

Last week also saw the arrival of the Knife Angel in Coventry city centre, a piece of art made from 100,000 knives.

It is hoped its presence will make those carrying knives stop and think about their actions.

Situated outside Coventry Cathedral, the sculpture will remain in place for until next month.
