DATES FOR THIS YEAR’S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON EVENTS IN THE REGION REVEALED

THERE’S nothing that screams Santa is on the way like a Christmas lights switch-on event.

The chance to wrap up warm and watch the twinkling lights spread their festive glow for the first time with family and friends is a must in the annual calendar.

And it really gets you in the festive spirit!

Now the dates have been revealed for events across Coventry and Warwickshire, we’ve compiled a list so you don’t miss out.

Remember to jot the dates down in your diary - and more importantly have fun!

The date for the Christmas light switchon in Coventry is November 20.

Bright lights, tinsel and music will descend on the city.

A celebrity guest is due to be announced in the coming weeks. Held on Sunday, November 17, this year’s Leamington light switch-on is being hosted by Warwickshire Gin Company. There will be a market from 10am, fair rides and a tree of lights outside the Town Hall.

The lights will be turned on at 5pm.

On Saturday, November 23, Bedworth will be hosting its light switch-on.

There will be all the usual family entertainment. Held at the very start of the festive month, Kenilworth will switch their lights on on Sunday, December 1. There will be the usual market, fair ground rides and hot food and drink. Shopping opportunities on the high street will also be available as a number of local businesses will stay open later. Rugby will be turning on its Christmas lights on November 17.

There will be a range of entertainment through the afternoon with the lights set to go on around 5pm.

Nuneaton’s event will be held on Sunday, November 24.

There will be a 20-minute performance by Stagecoach of both modern and classic Christmas songs.

Santa will also be turning on the lights as usual.

Featured alongside a market and a lantern parade, Southam’s light switch-on is hosted by Santa himself.

Make sure to bring your own lanterns.

The lights will be turned on at 5pm after the parade.

Bulkington’s Christmas light switch-on will be held on November 19.

The festive spirit will arrive in Bulkington with all of the usual entertainment.

Held on November 28, Warwick’s Victorian Evening incorporates the town’s light switch-on.

There is plenty of live entertainment alongside rides and food and drink stalls.

The lights will be turned on at 7pm.
