Reasons why 11,000 bins across Cov have not been collected
MORE than 11,000 bins have not been collected across Coventry so far this year, with a number of various reasons being blamed for the missed collections.
Lower Stoke takes the top spot for 2019, with 1,093 bins being skipped during collections.
Information obtained from Coventry City Council gave reasons as to why your bin may have been missed from the weekly collection.
Reasons range from items being put in the wrong bin, bins being over-filled to human error.
The council told us “common reasons for bins being missed are bin contamination, the wrong items in that particular bin, bins not being presented on time for collection”.
Bins being over filled or too heavy was another top reason.
It was said “in this instance it can be dangerous to try and tip a bin that is too heavy in case of the bin splitting and injuring the crew or damaging the equipment”.
Human error was also a reason for missed collections: “Bins can be missed due to human error and if there is no information supplied by a crew as to why they did not empty a bin we will ask that the crew returns.”
A Council spokesman said: “Over the last three years we have reduced the number of missed bins across the city and we would like to thank local people for their efforts in making sure they put the right things in each of their three bins.
“We can face specific issues in some areas and this can include parked cars making it had for us to access small streets.
“We work with local people where we know there are issues and we usually manage to resolve most issues.”
