Manor set to mark 60th anniversary
MANOR Park Rugby club is celebrating its 60th year of existence with a hat-trick of big events in the coming weeks and months.
The Griff and Coton-based outfit are aiming to make it a year to remember for more than one reason as they have progressed into the quarterfinals of the Midlands Senior Vase.
They will play Spalding at home on Saturday, November 30 and the club is marking the occasion by holding its annual Legends Day event the same afternoon.
“The class of 2019 has done the club proud by reaching the last eight of this competition,” said Matt Marston. “We really want it to be a memorable day and it seems perfect sense to welcome along anyone who has connections with the club for this big cup match.”
To formally mark the 60th anniversary of the club, a special dinner is being held at Bosworth Hall on Saturday, February 1, 2020 when former England international, Leicester Tigers hooker George Chuter is the special guest.
Tickets for the event cost £50 each and are available by contacting Matt Marston on 07812099249 or ballmarston@ hotmail.co.uk
Finally, Manor Park has launched a walking rugby project with a meeting being held on Monday, November 18 at the Griff and Coton from 7pm. Walking rugby is similar to touch rugby rules.
Former Manor Park player and ex-chairman Nick Bishop said: “It is an exciting version of the game.”
