COVENTRY City have been linked with a highly-rated winger currently making his mark in the seventh tier of the football pyramid.

The Sky Blues are no strangers to plucking up-and-coming talent from non-league football having signed a string of teenagers for their development squad in recent seasons.

Sam McCallum is the biggest success to date, having signed from Herne Bay via the V9 Academy trials 18 months ago as a fresh faced 17-year-old.

Now 19, the left-back is currently first choice in the first team and one of City’s most saleable assets going into the January transfer window.

Other players who have emerged from relative non-league obscurity include Morgan Williams, Dexter Walters, Joe Newton and Reise Allassani.

The latest player reportedly on the club’s radar is 22-year-old Chay Tilt, reports Football Insider.

The wide man started out at West Bromwich Albion’s Academy before switching to Queens Park Rangers, being released from Loftus Road after a twoyear spell earlier this year and joining Stourbridge of the Southern League Premier Central division. According to the report, Coventry have been monitoring Tilt this season with a view to making a move in the forthcoming mid-term transfer window.

A skilful forward, Tilt caught the eye in Stourbridge’s run to the first round of the FA Cup and has been the subject of an offer from National League hopefuls Solihull Moors.

The nephew of Blackpool defender Curtis Tilt has also caught the attention of a number of Football League clubs.

And he is understood to be available due to the fact that he’s currently on non-contract terms at Stourbridge.
