Hearts of the jungle
THIS year’s stint in camp is over, and we have our new Queen of the Jungle in Jacqueline Jossa, who just pipped Andy Whyment to the title. But for over a week in the lead-up to that grand final, celebs were leaving each day – heading from those very basic conditions straight into that swish Versace Hotel, where their friends and family were waiting to greet them and help them live it up on ITV’s dime til the end of the run.
And in this Coming Out show we get to see each celeb’s emotional reunion, witness the transformative effect of a good meal and a much-needed bath, see how they adjust to the outside world, and how they get along with their fellow campmates’ friends and families.
In years gone by there’s been major beef between people, meaning those breakfasts spent waiting for evictions or nights in the Versace could have been pretty tense, but this year was incredibly harmonious and supportive, so we can imagine that some great friendships have been forged.
There has been a bit of criticism of this year’s series with some viewers saying there weren’t enough big characters – aka people didn’t row enough with each other or have meltdowns.
But in our opinion this has been an absolutely brilliant year: a camp full of love and mutual support, people talking really openly about their feelings and issues and the work they still need to do on themselves.
And that’s despite all those cockroaches and fish guts, too.
