Coventry has new millionaire after EuroMillions win

- By GRAEME BROWN & RACHEL STRETTON

COVENTRY has a new millionaire after an outstanding EuroMillions ticket was claimed.

The ticket, which was bought in the city, went on to win the £1 million EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker prize.

However, it went unclaimed for several weeks after the draw on November 26, 2019.

However, Camelot UK Lotteries, operator of The National Lottery, has revealed it has now been claimed - and the winner, who has not been named, has become a millionaire just days before Christmas.

Unless the winner of a major National Lottery prize opts to take full publicity and signs an agreement to that effect, no further information can be released about their win.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward, especially in the lead up to Christmas, and we hope that they will enjoy their win. It would have been awful if the ticketholder had missed out on this lifechanging amount of money. We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”

Meanwhile, with Christmas coming, here are a few tips on how to win big on the lottery:

Stop being tempted to spread out numbers evenly.

It can be tempting to fill out your lottery ticket to make things look nice and evenly spread out, but this won’t help you win.

Don’t be scared to bunch numbers together.

Extend your numbers up to 50. The majority of numbers picked are below 30, as people tend to opt for birthdays, anniversaries and memorable dates.

If you want to increase your chances of not having to share the jackpot with anybody else make sure you include numbers up to the limit of 50.

Don’t pick last week’s numbers. You might think you’re being clever by picking last week’s numbers, but you’re not.

The likelihood of the same numbers coming up again is low, and it’ll probably do you more harm than good.

Don’t be tempted by the number 13 - more people pick it than you think. Thirteen is historically an unlucky number, but a lot of people pick it thinking nobody else will.

It’s actually the seventh most popular lottery number when it comes to being picked, so you’re better off picking a different digit if you don’t want to share your winnings.
