Blue paint can’t hide the city’s potholes

-

I READ that the council is going to waste yet more of our money bedaubing 366 locations with some form of sky blue paint.

I would have thought, along with many other people no doubt, that the money would be better spent repairing potholes on our city roads, or are they going to paint them blue so we can see them more easily? painting things what

Ever colour is like putting a patch over a wart so no one can see it.

You only have to walk round this city to see the decay and neglect.

Blue paint is not going to remedy that. We have enough gaudy lego coloured student blocks without adding to it.

Coming together in unity and kindness

EVERY January many churches throughout the world observe a Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. It is an opportunity for churches to share worship, act together and draw closer to each other. This year’s theme of Unusual Kindness has been chosen by the churches in Malta and Gozo, thinking of St Paul’s shipwreck on Malta and the kindness he and the ship’s crew received from the islanders.

The Chapel of Unity in Coventry Cathedral is holding a service on Sunday, 19 January, at 2pm, supported by many different churches in the city, around this theme of kindness, based on the story of St Paul and his shipwreck as told in the book of Acts in the New Testament. The service will be an opportunity to renew our commitment to acts of kindness and to unity, and anyone of any church tradition or none will be very welcome.
