Will is up for a Challenge!

SECOND row Will Rowlands could be back in contention for Wasps’ final European Challenge Cup game of the season.

Bordeaux Begles, who have already qualified as winners of Pool C and are currently top of the French Top 14 visit the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon.

And Dai Young could have last season’s Wasps Players’ Player of the Season back available for the first time in seven games after recovering from a knee injury suffered against Exeter Chiefs.

“Will trained on Monday,” said defence coach Ian Costello. “If he comes through another session he’s back in contention which is fantastic. That’s an area where we’ve stretched in terms of depth, and at loosehead. As games have unfolded, they’re the two positions where we’ve come under the most pressure so to have Simon McIntyre’s experience coming back with the season he had last year it’s a huge boost for the squad.”

Elsewhere, Ben Harris has returned to training following his shoulder injury.

Second row James Gaskell has missed 10 games with a shoulder injury that required surgery. Costello said: “James is back training but he’s at the non-contact stage so he is unlikely to be in contention. But it’s a boost, when you see these guys coming back on to the pitch training on top of the young group that went to Agen, that depth is something we badly need and that competitiveness across the squad.”

Brad Shields (foot) and Zurabi Zhvania (knee) are yet to return to full training.

Ben Vellacott and Callum Sirker are long-term injury absentees, recovering from reconstructive knee surgeries.
