BEST OF THE REST

GOOD OMENS BBC2, 9pm

DEVILISHLY funny, this drama starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant is a hell of a lot of fun.

Based on the Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman novel, this fantasy series was previously on Amazon Prime, but arrives on the BBC for those who missed it.

Sheen plays fussy, well-behaved angel Aziraphale while Tennant is fast-living demon Crowley.

The story starts at the beginning. The very, very beginning. The creation of the universe. We’re in the Garden of Eden and Crowley is the snake that tempts Eve to eat the cursed apple despite the not-so-subtle “Don’t touch” sign.

Crowley and Aziraphale become immediate enemies.

But what plays out over the following 6,000 years as ambassadors on Earth is that the pair develop a love/hate relationship and have actually grown rather fond of each other.

So when the world is about to end, they will have to join forces to stop Armageddon.

It’s the ultimate goody vs baddie action thriller.

MEAT THE FAMILY Channel 4, 9pm

FOR four families, their supper has come to stay for three weeks in a controversial experiment analysing their meat eating habits.

Things didn’t end so well for chickens Jennifer, Clucky and Hayley by the end of last week’s episode. After three weeks living with a family, they were sent away to be plucked and prepared and brought back for a finger-lickin’ good roast dinner.

Now we focus on Dawn, John and their sons who have been looking after pigs Reenie and Pauline. Dawn has slightly fallen in love with them – but can they give up bacon?

Elsewhere, Pam, Lou, Jade and Jazmyn are a family that eats meat every day.

But they become responsible for rearing two lambs.

Can a trip to a farm during lambing season force Pam to challenge her long-held beliefs?

Will they give up meat and save the animals? Or send their pets to the butcher’s.

There are tough times ahead.
