- By ELIS SANDFORD News Reporter elis.sandford@reachplc.com

A POPULAR local bus service is set to be extended, offering a new direct route from Coventry to Nuneaton.

The number 20 National Express Coventry service currently serves passengers looking to travel from the city to Bedworth via Foleshill, Arena

Park, and Longford. But now people will be able to catch the same bus into Nuneaton.

The service runs up to every 20 minutes during the day from Monday to Saturday.

The updated route is set to run from Monday, January 27.

There won’t be any change to the regular 20A, 20B, and 20C services which currently provide direct links from Foleshill Road to Walsgrave and University Hospital.

Buses will continue to run up to every five minutes along Foleshill Road between Coventry and Arena Park.

Chris Gibbens, commercial director of National Express Bus , said: “We know our customers want reliable, frequent and direct bus travel to and from Nuneaton so we’re delighted to be able to provide a new great-value link between Coventry, Bedworth and Nuneaton.

“Running up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday, it costs just £2.20 one way. Or for just £4, customers can travel across Coventry and Warwickshire on as many National Express Coventry services as they like, as many times as they like, all day.

“We hope that customers will take the opportunity to benefit from our new greatvalue service.”

The news comes weeks after National Express announced their 2020 prices , which saw a cash price freeze, but an increase in other methods.

The biggest price rise is for the four week ticket if you pay by mobile, which will be increasing 60p from £50.90 to £51.50.

Most other journeys are increasing by 10p. But there are some winners, with some options going down in price.

The price of an under 18 all day ticket - the daysaver - is set to fall by 20p, from £2.50 to £2.30.
