Clinton: City could spring big surprise

CLINTON Morrison reckons Coventry City will fancy their chances of beating Blues in their own stadium.

The former Blues star has been talking about the unusual situation in which tenants Sky Blues will play landlords Birmingham in an FA Cup tie at St Andrew’s.

Coventry will technically be the home team the weekend after next – meaning the Blues players will turn up as visitors to their own stadium.

And Morrison claimed that could cause confusion.

“I guarantee someone will make a mistake and go in the wrong dressing room,” he said.

The Londoner, who played three seasons at Blues and two at Coventry, thinks the underdogs could spring a surprise.

“It means the home fans will have that away end then, so they will pack the whole of that away end, the Birmingham fans.

“It’s an interesting tie to be fair, Coventry are in good form. Coventry are probably playing better at St Andrew’s than Birmingham are at the moment.

“You would probably look at that and think Coventry have got a great chance of progressing to the next round. It is crazy.

“I feel sorry for Coventry as well with all the fiasco of the Ricoh Arena, they have got a great stadium there, something needs to be sorted out because they are good fans.

“I have played for that football club and that was going on when I was playing for it – trouble with the Ricoh – and that’s many years ago, so something needs to be sorted out.”
