Appeal to help save under threat carnival

- By CLAIRE HARRISON News Reporter claire.harrison01@reachplc.com

AN SOS appeal has been launched to save Bulkington carnival which is at serious risk of being cancelled for good.

An emergency meeting has being called to try and get enough volunteers on board to keep the annual event going.

It is the lack of helping hands which has left the event, which is one of the only remaining village carnivals in Warwickshire, at risk.

An urgent plea has been made on the Bulkington Carnival page on Facebook.

It reads: “Over the past years our carnival has been a huge success but we only have a few people who remain dedicated to the event and it is too much work for these people to put on this year’s event by themselves and without more help from new commitment members,”

“We need dedicated people who are willing to take an active role in arranging and supporting the event.

“Without this support we will have to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

“We need to make the final decision by the end of the week in order to have sufficient time to either cancel or start arrangements.”

The crunch meeting will be held tonight at 6pm at Weston Hall Hotel in Bulkington.

“Please come along if you are prepared to get actively involved in arranging this year’s carnival event,” the post concludes.

“Without more help we will have to make the difficult decision to cancel this years event.”

Not only does the carnival bring the community together it also raises vital cash for good causes across the community.
