Murder probe: More arrests

Officers have now revealed he has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The teen, from Birmingham, is the third person to be arrested following police investigat­ions.

A 33-year-old man from Leamington and a 17-year-old from Coventry have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They both remain in police custody.

A blue tent was erected in the street, which had been cordoned off by police officers.

Forensic investigat­ions were seen getting underway.

The road remains closed today yesterday.

An update from Warwickshi­re Police said: “A man who sustained injuries in the initial incident and was taken to hospital, an 18-year-old from Birmingham, has been arrested in connection with this incident and is in police custody.

“This takes the total number of arrests to three at this time.”

Chief Superinten­dent Ben Smith from Warwickshi­re Police reassured people in the town that extra patrols would be put on.

He said: “We recognise that this incident will have shocked the community of Leamington and I would like to reassure the public that we will do everything in our power to bring those responsibl­e to justice.”

He added: “We continue to appeal for witnesses and would really like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, has CCTV or dash cam footage of the area at around the time of the incident, or may have seen something suspicious.

“Any informatio­n you might have, no matter how small or insignific­ant it may seem, could be vital to our investigat­ion so I would urge you to get in touch.

“We will remain in the area over the coming days to conduct enquiries and provide reassuranc­e, and if anyone has any concerns please do speak with an officer.
