Aussies have it right when it comes to litter

-

I HAVE just returned from a five week holiday to south Australia and Tasmania to stay with my sister.

One thing I noticed from my first day, no where did I see any litter.

Is it that Australians are taught to have more pride in there surroundings?

There are, I would say, more takeaway and fast food outlets there. Our ever increasing rat population is blamed on over-flowing bins outside food outlets here.

Maybe they have a better refuse collection system, from what I heard it was a once a week collection.

Another thing we could be doing is having a deposit collection on bottles and drink cans, which would certainly help our streets look tidier. RJ.Jenkins, Coventry.

He’s a danger to world peace

KEVIN Lynch’s letter on Monday 13th January reads as follows... ‘Trump is the man to take on terrorism’, and then goes on to praise Trump as ‘a leader who is prepared to take on and meet out punishment to the supporters of terrorism’.

I say Trump is a danger to world peace, it comes as no surprise that Trump ordered the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani as he sees it as an election winner.

The longer he remains in office the more extreme he’ll become as he’s completely immersed in his own image - everything is about him.

He justified his actions saying he had intelligence that Iran was plotting a major attack on Americans in Iraq, was this the same intelligence source that said Saddam had WMD’s?

Trump is playing games and I fear this incident will escalate into another conflict in the Middle East, that Johnson will be obliged to back with UK troops.
