Tributes to cyclist killed after collision on road in Coventry

TRIBUTES have been left at the scene of a crash where a cyclist lost his life.

The 38-year-old man suffered critical injuries after being in collision with a car on Tamworth Road in Keresley just before 6.30am on January 20.

He was taken to hospital but sadly died later.

Flowers have now been left at the side of the road paying tribute to the victim.

A message left on one of the cards reads: “Mate, you got off the hook for organising my stag do! You don’t know how much I’m gonna miss you.”

Another added: “You truly were a real life care bear! Going to miss you so much mate.”

A serious collision sign has also been erected at the scene of the crash appealing for witnesses.

The road was closed between Long Lane and Hollyfast Lane for several hours as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit at West Midlands Police, said: “This is a tragic event and we have spoken to a number of witnesses already. If you have any informatio­n or dashcam footage on the collision please get in touch as soon as possible.
