Everyone can play a part in success, insists City boss

-

WITH just over a week to go until the January transfer window slams shut, it remains all quiet on the Coventry City front.

That doesn’t mean it will remain that way, of course, and deadline day (a week on Friday) often throws up a few surprises.

Sky Blues have a number of players who aren’t getting a game right now – the likes of Jordy Hiwula who was leading scorer last season but is currently struggling to make the matchday squad. The return to fitness and form of Max Biamou has also pushed fellow frontman Amadou Bakayoko down the pecking order, while summer signing Gervane Kastaneer looked further away from the first-team fold than ever this week when he was an unused sub for the Under-23s.

So is anyone knocking on the manager’s door asking to leave, whether that be on a permanent move or out on loan to get first team football elsewhere? City boss Mark Robins said: “No, everyone knows that they can be involved and play a part in this season’s remaining games.

“There’s a chance that we could achieve something so everyone knows that and would be reluctant to move on. Ultimately, we have a group of people who are striving towards the same ends and we want to try to keep as we are but try to improve as we go.”

Robins says the message to any players who are feeling hard done by and want to get a look-in, is clear that it’s in their own hands to shine in training and development games. “There’s a way out of it,” he said. “If players perform they get closer to the team.

“If that doesn’t happen and it’s through no fault of their own then we’ll try to help them as much as we can because we’re all in it together – all striving for the same thing.”
