Police renew appeal after man loses fight for life

A PEDESTRIAN who was struck after a two car collision in Coventry last month has sadly passed away.

Sergiu Vlasceanu has lost his fight for life, Coventry Police said.

His family released his image as officers continue to appeal for informatio­n.

The 23-year-old was struck after a two-car collision in Sandy Lane, Radford, on the evening of Thursday, January 23.

He suffered serious injuries and was given specialist trauma care at the scene, before being taken to University Hospital in Walsgrave.

Sergiu had been in a critical condition in hospital since but sadly died a few days later.

Among the emergency services called to the scene at around 9.30pm were two ambulances, the Warwickshi­re and

Northampto­nshire Air Ambulance and officers from West Midlands Police.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit, said: “We are urgently appealing for anyone with informatio­n to contact us.

“We particular­ly want to speak to anyone who saw a silver Peugeot 206 and a silver Seat Ibiza in the moments before the collision.

“If you saw anything or have dashcam footage please contact us.”

Two drivers who stopped at the scene are assisting police with enquiries.
