DOUBLE SHOOTING: TWO INJURED AS SHOTGUN IS FIRED AT A CAR

APPEAL FOR WITNESSES TO SHOCKING CITY CENTRE INCIDENT TO COME FORWARD

TWO men were taken to hospital with shotgun injuries following a shooting in Coventry city centre on Saturday evening.

The victims were in a car at traffic lights on Binley Road, at the junction with Far Gosford Street, shortly after 10.30pm when they were shot.

They were taken to hospital but a

West Midlands Police spokesman said their injuries were not thought to be life-threatenin­g.

Detectives investigat­ing the double shooting have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of two men in a car being shot at in Binley Road at the junction of Far Gosford

Street at just after 10.30pm.

“Two men aged 21 and 18 were taken to hospital with shotgun injuries which are not thought to be lifethreat­ening.”

The spokesman added: “It’s believed that the car the two men were travelling in stopped at a set of traffic lights on Far Gosford Street, when a shot was fired at the car.

“An investigat­ion is under way and detectives are appealing to anyone who has any informatio­n to get in touch.”
