ROBINS STILL WANTS MORE!

Another victory takes Sky Blues joint top – but...

-

THE stellar winning run continues, but Coventry City boss Mark Robins has dubbed his side’s second-half defending a ‘disgrace’ after the Sky Blues made hard work of beating Rochdale 2-1 in League One.

City continued their automatic promotion charge on Saturday with their fifth consecutive win and go into tomorrow’s clash with tabletoppers Rotherham level on points with their rivals.

Dale, helped by the furious wind and rain, proved a handful for Coventry and no more so than for their goal when a long ball over the top caught the Sky Blues napping and allowed Aaron Wilbraham to prod home.

“I did not think it was a great performance,” said a frustrated Robins.

“We did not get to grips with them enough. They are in a situation where they are going to throw caution to the wind and, from corners, they were leaving one against one at the back at times.

“We weren’t good enough in terms of getting on the ball. There was only once in the first half where we managed to get Jamie Allen in at goal instead of holding onto the ball to allow the support to arrive.

“We got the second goal which was a great move, great ball and great finish from Matty

Godden. I thought we had won it,” Robins admitted.

“But straight away they have gone down the other end and it is a disgrace, it’s a joke of a goal and we can’t do that.

“Hopefully that is a kick up the backside for the players and we can kick on from there because that was poor.

“Having said that, we looked fairly comfortable and we have got three points at a place which is difficult to come to.”
