Animal crackers

-

IF YOU don’t know what a zonkey is, you certainly will after watching this. Pet talent agent Karen Chamberlain is an expert in finding any animal for any job, whether that’s a well-behaved micro-pig, an outgoing llama or even a zebra crossed with a donkey.

This funny documentary follows Karen and her team at Barking Mad as they cash in on the fact that Brits love animals.

Their job is to supply everything from cute pooches and cats, to tarantulas and skunks for films, TV, adverts or even music videos.

Working for loud and largerthan-life Karen is her longsuffering husband Pete, her yawning, uninterested niece Bex and the flamboyant Head of Talent Amrick, an aspiring pop superstar who claims he can read animals’ minds.

Yes it’s all a bit bonkers, but there are some amusing shots of dogs dressed in tutus, horses with colourful unicorn-esque manes and sheep on leads, to name a few.

It’s an emotional time for the team as they are going through a cash flow problem, using savings to keep the company afloat.

Karen says: “When I say we’re skint, I mean our overdraft’s got an overdraft that’s got a cousin that’s got an overdraft.”

She gets to work hosting an open day, a casting call for new pet faces. She’s booked a professional photographer too, but can she get the punters in?

Later she pins her hopes on a Guinness World Record attempt for Lorraine Kelly, and a high-profile job for a potential new London mayor.

She’s feline hopeful that’s for sure…
