We will be back and stronger than ever

-

SATURDAY would have been Coventry RFC’S biggest day of the season, an exciting clash against the table topping Newcastle Falcons at BPA, with a possible crowd of 4,000 people, sold out hospitality and St Patrick’s Day festivities.

Are we fans slightly disappointed to miss out on our live rugby fix? Yes, of course. Are we going miss seeing our boys in blue & white play, possibly until next year? We’d be lying if we said we aren’t.

But will we carp on and moan about it? No, we won’t because we are Cov RFC through and through and we all bleed blue and white.

Our club has survived for 146 years through two world wars and three near liquidations.

We also understand that some things are far more important than rugby, especially the health and wellbeing of all of our fellow supporters, players, coaching staff and club employees.

In time Cov will be back stronger than ever as it will take worse than the coronavirus to break our famous old club. Our city, our club, our passion. C’mon Cov!

Paul Sheehan, Binley

Lessons learned from virus panademic

THERE are endless lessons to be learned from the virus pandemic, but three in particular occur to me.

First, enormous respect for our dedicated medical and emergency services, safeguarding us night and day.

Second, that the Chancellor is right to make unprecedented finance available to help, among others, people affected through no fault of their own.

Third, that the secrecy of China seems to have delayed international response. The need for open democratic government worldwide is once again clear.
