Two families speak of their heartbreak

- By BEN ECCLESTON News Reporter ben.eccleston@reachplc.com

THE families of Johnny Robbins and Daniel Shaw have spoken of their heartbreak at having no answers over their murders.

Daniel was shot in the chest two years ago and police are yet to charge anyone in connection with his death in Tile Hill.

And his family have said that losing him “has broken each and every person who knew him”.

As police began to investigate the fatal shooting in Copland Place on March 25, 2018, they realised Daniel’s murder was linked to the disappearance of Johnny Robbins, who was last seen on March 21 that year.

It is believed he had been kidnapped and tortured, before being killed, and his body has never been found.

West Midlands Police has stated that they know who is behind the murders and they will not rest until the killers are brought to justice.

Johnny’s family have also released a heartwrenching statement in which they say they have dealt with “devastation and overwhelming grief” while not knowing what happened to their loved one.

Johnny’s family’s statement: One day your life’s ticking along nicely and then something catastrophic like this happens and your whole life and world are turned upside down. Y

our mind can’t cope with the trauma, the confusion, the devastation and the overwhelming grief.

Two years have passed now and it’s still so difficult to comprehend. We have no answers to our questions.

We as a family are still trying to piece together our heartbroken lives, supporting each other and Johnny’s bereft children. It’s a very long, emotional and painstaking process for each of us. We miss Johnny so much every day.

He was, and always will be, a very much-loved member of our community and he will never be forgotten. All we can do is try and carry on.

We take each day at a time, we put on brave faces, but inside our hearts are shattered and our family is broken. Our minds are consumed day and night by all aspects of what’s happened to him and one day we hope to have answers.

Our only hope now is that one day Johnny’s body will be recovered and we are able to lay him to rest with his dad.

Sadly, we don’t know if this will ever be possible but we’ll always hang onto that shred of hope until we know otherwise.

Daniel’s family’s statement: Today marks two years since Dan was murdered. As a family it has been two years of ups, downs and sheer devastation.

The loss of Dan has broken each and every person who knew him, even now it’s hard to believe anyone would want to hurt him let alone kill him. He was so kind and gentle - a loving soul who would have helped anyone and everyone in need.

He is so missed by his parents, brother and sisters, aunties, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends. Life will never ever be the same without his happy, funloving personality and we hope for justice to be served one day to those involved in his murder.

Detectives have stated that they will not rest until the pair’s killers are behind bars with lead investigator Detective

Chief Inspector Chris Mallett saying: “We know who committed these murders and why they did it.

“The law-abiding people living in Tile Hill in fear of these people have told us. But because they are frightened of this group, they are understandably reluctant to tell us what they know formally.

“This investigation will not stop until that time and I want the following message to be crystal clear to those who are responsible - the community knows who you are. And so do we.”
