of the criminals will not be self-isolating.

“Also I don’t want our control room taking unnecessary calls - we have had a few silly calls where people need to read the government advice and comply by it, rater than ringing us up for advice.

“We are there for emergencies - we always will be. I would like my staff focused on supporting the NHS and others at this time.”

COPS have issued a warning to parents after finding teenagers out and about around the town despite the lockdown.

Just 24 hours after they were forced to break up a group of men ‘enjoying the sun and drinking a tipple, officers in Nuneaton say they have been receiving reports of others breaking the government’s stay-at-home rules.

This includes children, teens and adults gathering in groups in parks and ‘loitering in alleyways’.

Now they have warned parents ‘please don’t make us bring your children home’.

In a post on the Nuneaton and Bedworth Police page on Facebook officers have warned they are putting their families at risk.

“As a parent or guardian it is your responsibility to ensure your children are at home and completing set school work,” the post reads.

“Teenagers should not be out at parks or loitering in alleyways. Please don’t make it necessary for us to start bringing them home.

“If they need to go out they should be accompanied with a family member from the same household.

“If you don’t know where they are and who they are coming into contact with how do you know they are not bringing COVID-19 home and putting the whole family at risk.”

It concludes with a poignant message: “This is not a public holiday it is a national health emergency.”

Legislation has now been passed which allows forces to dish out £30 to those caught breaking the social distance guidelines.
