Government acted too late as virus spread

-

WELL there we were a few months ago many wondering what kind of mess Jeremy Corbyn would get us into in 2020, even some Labour supporters had their doubts.

There were many sighs of relief when the Tories were elected the only worries were, would leaving the EU be bad or good for the country. Little did we know that would be the least of our worries.

In December and January we were all shocked by what was happening in China with the cornavirus and what impact it would have on us when it spread to the rest of the world. That is all except our government who failed to take any action until March.

Our manufacturing industry could have been alerted in January to all the needs required to fight the virus and allow as many patients and hospital staff as possibble to survive.

Instead they preferred to wait until we were in the midst of the pandemic and scrounge around other countries for supplies that were in demand and short supply, goodness knows how much we have paid for them, I doubt we shall ever find out.

It is doubtful if the government has even considered the fact that many of the virus survivors will need aftercare following their traumatic experience in hospital.

There is little likelihood there will be any resignations.

The Fasting

Hungry the soul to be with You, Amid the spaces left; Where once the everyday did live,

Now but shelves bereft. Bittersweet that spring will bloom,

And migrant birds sing; Regardless of the fearful eyes, Or what a cough will bring.

Money and power have lost all sway,

Chaos threatens to bite; Greed consumes the toilet roll, And invisible our plight. Deprived of solid handshake, Kindly keep your distance; The altar of life now laid bare, Sterile the insistence.

Yet as panic and fear resides, Still the sun does shine; Silent footfalls lonely echo; Yet I am gladly Thine.

Public confidence is crumbling

WHAT a mess this government has made of the PPE shortage and its promise to increase testing.

They are incredibly unlikely to hit their promised target of 100,000 by the end of the month and they just can’t seem to agree on where the promised PPE is coming from or when it is supposed to be getting here.

If they lose the public trust then this awful lockdown will start to crumble.
