Sheep Grand national up and running to help nhs
SIX sheep at a popular family attraction in Warwickshire will be raising people’s spirits in the coronavirus lockdown this weekend.
But the runners and riders won’t be ‘fleecing’ you - all the money raised is going to the NHS, plus there are some great prizes on offer.
Hatton Country World is livestreaming its Sheep Grand National this Saturday, April 25.
And with sheep names such as Red Ram, Lamborghini and Ewe Never Know, it is bound to be lots of fun.
The idea came from Harry Arkwright, aged 19, who is the son of Hatton Country World owners Johnnie and Arabella Arkwright.
He has been busy getting everything in place to live-stream the event and encouraging donations and entries to be made at their Justgiving page.
There will be one race that will be live-streamed on Facebook, and the Justgiving page will enable people to put the name of the sheep they think will win and the estimated time.
The winner will be the person who picked the sheep and the nearest time.
There are five prizes on offer, including a three-course meal for four with wine at the awardwinning Hatton Arms and a family day out at Hatton Adventure World.
Carron Smith, marketing manager at Hatton said: “Everyone has been amazed by the incredible job that all those in the NHS have been carrying out.
“We wanted to do our bit to say thank you while trying to lift everyone spirits a little.
“So we had a chat with the sheep at Hatton who have been deeply missing all of the children. They suggest that this year the Sheep Grand National should be live-streamed on Facebook and held in aid of the NHS.”
