THE GOLDEN AGE

-

PACKED with all the glamour of an actual Hollywood movie, this shiny new drama from the creator of Glee takes us back in time to the golden age of the silver screen.

It’s post-world War II Hollywood and an ambitious group of aspiring actors, script writers and filmmakers are desperate to make all their showbiz dreams come true.

But wannabe movie stars are everywhere in Tinseltown.

This slick series follows people who will do absolutely anything to get ahead, no matter the cost. Jack Castello (David Corenswet) looks every inch the chiselled film star but he just can’t catch a break and he’s stone broke, with a pregnant wife who’s getting fed up.

He turns up at Ace Studios every day along with hundreds of other hopefuls, hoping to be picked as an extra. “Pretty face but no training. Kid, you’re a dime a dozen,” snaps the formidable casting director.

But a chance encounter with the owner of a petrol station with a difference could be the answer to his problems – or the cause of many more.

Watch out for stage icon Patti Lupone as veteran movie star Avis, Jeremy Pope as aspiring writer Archie and Dylan Mcdermott as gas station owner

Ernie. In future episodes you’ll see Glee’s Darren Criss, Mira Sorvino, Rob Reiner, The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and the legendary Holland Taylor.

It’s an entertaining peek behind Hollywood’s gilded curtain, exposing power dynamics, bias against age, race and gender, and some good old-fashioned movie magic.
