No fear of crisis at Greenbacks – insists Storer

-

THERE may be a worry about football clubs below the top levels during this crisis, but for one North Warwickshire outfit there are no such concerns.

Bedworth United boss Stuart Storer put paid to any worries on the club website last week stating that it would be business as usual as soon as the football was able to come back at the Oval.

He wrote: “This prolonged period of not playing football has hit non-league teams in a huge way financially, with many clubs struggling to keep their heads above water.

“It was particularly sad to hear that Burbage FC have folded, along with many other clubs up and down the country.

“There will probably be more clubs at a higher non-league level that will be more likely to fold the longer this situation continues.

“Just to reassure the Bedworth United faithful that we will definitely not be one of these clubs.

The chairman and board have been very frugal and smart over the past eight years, implementing sound financial practice that has ensured that we have no debts whatsoever at our football club.

“This intelligent foresight by the board will help our club ride this storm better than many non-league clubs.”

The message went on: “BUFC will come through this crisis and be able to restart next season from a positive position, which is a great testament to our board.”

“I really do feel that non-league clubs will have a huge culture shock, having to fully reset itself to these new parameters.”
