CORONAVIRUS: A HORIZON SPECIAL – PART TWO BBC2, 9pm

DRAWING on experts and the latest research, Dr Chris van Tulleken, Dr Hannah Fry and Michael Mosley explore the big questions about coronavirus.

What do we really know – and what don’t we know – about this deadly virus?

Michael visits the UK Government’s high security laboratory Porton Down, where they are testing vaccines right now. He also uncovers what the experience of the 2002 SARS epidemic tells us about this one, while Dr Chris investigates what’s happened to the promise of drugs that could treat the Covid-19 disease.

With access to the UK’S biggest clinical trial, he explores what makes treating viruses so difficult.

Hannah also looks ahead to see what the UK will be like in a year’s time.

Turning to the mathematical models, she investigates the tightrope we’ll all have to walk between an open society and an overwhelmed hospital system.

What does the maths reveal about how we can live with the virus?

A VERY BRITISH HOTEL CHAIN: INSIDE BEST WESTERN Channel 4, 9pm

TWO donkeys? Bed made into the shape of an elephant? All in a day’s work for the staff at the 265 Best Western hotels.

In this series, cameras take a peek behind the scenes at some of the hotels and the HQ in York, as the chain tries to rejuvenate the brand.

Recently-hired CEO Rob Paterson, a former Aussie rules footballer, wants to double up to 500 hotels in just two-anda-half years. “It’s a big task but we’re up for it,” he says.

Then, bordering on David Brent, he adds: “We want to live and breathe 17 conditions at work. For example, do you have a best friend at work?”

Who’s his best friend at work? His PA Val, apparently. Whether Val knows this is unclear.

Elsewhere, sales exec Terii has some serious schmoozing to do as she tries to sign the company’s first major celeb hotel owner, Marco Pierre White.

Nervous as hell, will she get the chef on board?
