New bar and restaurant to open in city centre after lockdown

- By MADELEINE CLARK

COVENTRY will be welcoming a new venue to the city centre once the coronavirus lockdown is over.

The bar, which will also be a restaurant and a party venue, is located on the Burges and is a new re-brand of the now-closed business, Impulse.

The new Down-town bar is currently boarded up as building works are still being carried out.

But big changes have already been made.

Managing Director, Perry Pericleous, said: “The venue itself has changed, and due to some refurbishments and movement it has become much bigger.

“We now have a small restaurant, which will sell great food like fish and chips, because you can’t get that in the city centre anymore.”

He added: “A few people walking past have tried to pop their head in and see what is going on, but I kind of want it to be a surprise.

“Hopefully we will be able to reveal a bit more in a few weeks when more of the work has been finished.”

Currently, Perry is unsure when the new launch date will be due to the current coronavirus lockdown.

However he hopes when it does open, people will come to the venue to have a good time.

“Down-town Coventry will be the new place in town, where everyone is welcome,” Perry added.

“We’re a venue that does everything, from drinks to food, dancing and singing, later nights for partying and we will even cater to students.

“With Coventry being the City of Culture next year, we felt this was a really important step in the business and I really hope the customers will like it.”
