£2m BULL yard revamp Back on track

- By TOM DAVIS Local Democracy Reporter

A NEW water feature and paving as part of a revamp of Bull Yard in Coventry city centre is due to be completed in July.

The £2million redevelopment of the site, close to the Wave, was planned to finish in April but was set back due to Covid-19.

With city centre work now resuming, the scheme is now pushing forward with new paving to the water feature added last week.

The water feature will be complemented with a children’s play area and new greenery to enhance what is seen as a “key arrival point” into the city from Coventry railway station.

Councillor Jim O’boyle, cabinet member for jobs and regeneration, said: “The Bull Yard has been progressing and there will be a new water feature and a new play area.

“I am glad we have managed to restart work as the city starts to come back to life. We need to keep the city moving as much as we can to keep people in work and keep the economy going.”

While the main work will be finished for July, the children’s play area is expected to be finished late summer/early autumn.

The plans were discussed during a council meeting in March.

Jo Shore, head of public realm, said at the time: “It will be a really beautiful place to spend time.

“Lots of seating, lots of family-focused areas, and as one of the key arrival points into the city it is really key.

“With The Wave it is a fantastic opportunity to have a picnic, go in the play park, it’s a real family environment.”
