Vital service in these very difficult times

-

I RECENTLY donated my 47th pint of blood at Wyken Community Centre.

It was not really that different from a normal donation session apart from the fact that the chairs in the waiting area were fewer and spaced apart and the lovely donor carers were all wearing masks.

Interestingly, one of the carers told me that demand for blood is actually down at the moment due to routine operations not taking place because of coronavirus.

Well done to all of the donor carers for making everything run smoothly even in these difficult times and for providing a vital service.

Condemnation of racist behaviour

IT is sad that the Black Lives Matter movement has become controversial.

Most people will agree that racism is wrong.

There will be some disagreement concerning what constitutes racism and those who are the victims of racism will have a particular perspective and passion.

Within that context, wouldn’t it be better to concentrate on what unites us in creating a non-racist society? This will include a celebration of good practice and a clear condemnation of racist behaviour. P. Graham, Nuneaton.

Shame about parade but so proud of City

WHAT a shame our beloved Coventry City can’t celebrate promotion with a parade through the city centre.

I do hope we can get back to the Ricoh and start the new season in our city.

Hopefully the coronavirus restrictions will be almost behind us and we can all turn out in Coventry to support the Sky Blues.

J. Seal, Coventry.
