Matt’s motivation is class act

-

DURING these uncertain times, many of us have had to learn to work differently. Award-winning Zumba instructor, Matt Print, is one of those.

Matt, 34, from Binley, started his journey as a fitness professional by accident in April 2010, after breaking up with his partner and deciding to do something new as a distraction.

That something was a Zumba class, where for an hour, he was able to escape from life and have some fun, with fitness being an added bonus.

Matt was a composer at the time and decided that he could provide cover as an instructor in his spare time, so in July of that year he trained to be a Zumba instructor.

Following that initial training, he set up classes in Coventry, Groby and Leicester, where things really took off.

In 2015, Matt decided to enhance his skills and became a Personal Trainer, gaining more knowledge about health, nutrition and fitness. This enabled him to help even more people make positive and long-lasting changes to their lives.

His talent hasn’t gone unnoticed, with him picking up Best Male Fitness Instructor of the Year in the National Community Fitness Awards 2017 and holding onto the crown the following year.

When Covid-19 and lockdown affected all of our lives, Matt responded quickly and managed to keep his community alive by presenting classes online. This meant he could still chat and catch up with his participants before and after a class and see their smiling faces while he was teaching.

Matt has also been very busy using his skills and technology to raise £4,925 for such causes as Myton Hospices, NHS Together Charities and UK Black Pride.

Life has completely changed for Matt, with him spending most days teaching a free Facebook Live workout to keep people motivated and active, in addition to his online classes.

Matt absolutely loves what he does and his participants regularly message him to say how the classes have kept them sane and given them a sense of normality during this strange time.

That is the motivation that fuels him to keep going.
