Consultation extended for City Centre South scheme

- By RACHEL STRETTON

THE company behind plans to transform part of Coventry city centre has had such a high level of interest that the deadline to have your say has been extended.

Shearer Property Group unveiled their plans for the regeneration of City Centre South at the end of last month.

It came as they launched a website and held webinars to engage with the community on the proposals.

The deadline to have your say is now July 17.

The regeneration scheme has been described as a “transformational mixed-use destination” to “revitalise Coventry city centre”.

It will include a public realm/ events space, shopping outlets, a cinema, restaurants, new homes, space for a hotel, co-working space and a medical centre.

Speaking at the time of the website launch, Guy Shearer, of Shearer Property Group - the company behind the plans - said: “We are now embarking on the next chapter of Coventry’s ambitious vision to regenerate City Centre South.

“Our scheme will re-introduce a community back into the heart of the city and create a vibrant place where people will once again want to live, work and socialise.”

Shearer Property Group has already delivered schemes such as Cathedral Lanes and The Precinct, in collaboration with Coventry City Council.

Mr Shearer added: “Since we launched the consultation for Coventry City Centre South on 26 June, we have received tremendous interest in the proposals with hundreds of responses and visits to the website and strong participation in the webinars.

“As a result of this, and to ensure as many people as possible have a say, we have decided to extend the consultation period by another week. It will now close on 17 July.

“We welcome all the feedback so far and look forward to working with the community as this scheme develops.”
