Please planners make sensible decisions

-

NO doubt many long standing Coventry City supporters will be shouting for joy at the news of Warwick University providing land for the building of a new stadium on the university site.

I welcome it, but as a resident living near Warwick University, I suppose, like many others, I’m asking, where exactly will it be built? Alongside the HS2 line? Or nearer Lakeside on the university site?

Hopefully this is a moment to see other potential projects and ideas brought together to improve the area. Surely, before any stadium is built, the local rail and road infrastructure should be upgraded?

Time for that new Coventry South relief road? A new rail station situated close to Warwick University?

Even if a new station was built, I’m sure many supporters would attempt to drive to the stadium, but if you are considering parking on the university site, forget it! I’ve already had one local supporter ask me if he can park his car on matchdays on my drive and I’ve just chatted with some Kenilworth residents who are concerned they may see an ‘overflow’ of cars parking near their home. “2-4-6-8who do we appreciate”…hopefully, sensible decisions by planners!

We can’t deny anyone their human rights

IN RESPONSE to Mr Sheehan and his views on IS bride Shamima Begum. The decision to strip Begum of her British citizenship is a decision that has the support of many, including mine.

Having said that, Begum still has the right to appeal and the right to a fair hearing, this is the foundation of any fair and just legal system.

Denying someone their basic human rights would make us no better than the extremists we fight against. Let her appeal, and let the Court make their ruling.

A. Mcdonald,

Coventry.
