Young must make their voices heard
DESPITE complaints to the French and providing them with surveillance equipment there seems to be a never ending number of migrants in small boats coming to the UK.
Many will claim asylum saying they are escaping war, persecution and poverty.
They will already have passed through several safe countries so why do they risk their lives to come here?
Maybe they think we are all rich and a soft touch or could there possibly be another reason for coming so far?
Many of those arriving are from countries that are likely to suffer the most from global warming over the coming years.
If the worst scenario for climate change comes true then it’s likely the only living things able to survive in these countries will be a few sand lizards and scorpions.
If we know what the future holds then there is a good chance the migrants do as well.
With Siberia having suffered an unprecedented heatwave this year we should all be concerned.
Europe will not escape climate change either, especially those countries on the Mediterranean Sea.
Britain may therefore appear a safer option although even we could have summers as hot as 40c by the end of this century.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg has already said global warming is something that will hit today’s young people particularly hard.
The young should make their voice heard now.
R. Goodfellow, Coventry. Simple answer to those who object
TO those who object to Shamima Begum being allowed to return for her appeal hearing in court, I simply say: Magna Carta June 15, 1215.
