IPSWICH STRIKER KAYDEN JACKSON REVEALS HIS STANCE AMID SKY BLUES TRANSFER SPECULATION
IPSWICH Town striker Kayden Jackson, heavily linked with a move to join Coventry City this summer, has revealed his stance on the talk surrounding his future.
The 26-year-old is said to have rejected a new deal at Portman Road, a decision that reports claim has seen the Sky Blues swoop to offer him a way out.
Jackson hit 11 goals last season in League One and, despite having another two years left on his current deal, Paul Lambert was keen to see him pinned down to an even longer contract.
But the former Accrington Stanley man reportedly turned his nose up at that offer.
Asked about his future at
Ipswich, and speculation linking him with the Championship move, Jackson said: “Whatever is going on [behind the scenes] is separate to my football.”
He continued: “I am leaving it all down to my agent [to discuss]. I am an Ipswich player and I have a contract here for another two years.” Mark Robins will almost certainly be in the market for a forward this summer with Jackson likely to be one of a host of names currently being considered by head of recruitment Chris Badlan.
But Matty Godden remains
City’s main striker heading into their Championship campaign after hitting 15 goals in League One last term. Meanwhile, Sky Blues’ Championship rivals Stoke City have landed the signature of former Sheffield Wednesday left-back Morgan Fox. The 26-year-old was linked with a move to join Mark Robins’ ranks last month with the City boss, at the time, said to be chasing a left-sided defender.
Robins may well still be in the market for reinforcements in that position, even after landing a season-long loan deal for Wolves youngster Ryan Giles.
But any interest he may have previously held in Fox will now come to an end after the former Notts County and Charlton Athletic man put pen to paper on a deal at the Bet365 stadium.
Speaking to the club after landing the defender, Stoke boss Michael O’neill said: “Morgan is a player who knows the Championship really well and at the age of 26 he’s still hungry to improve.
“Left-back is an area we have been looking to strengthen and Morgan will be a great asset.”
Fox becomes Stoke City’s first signing of the summer as they start their recruitment drive ahead of the new season.
Things have been far busier at Ryton-on-dunsmore, however, with Robins having already completed six deals.
Whatever is going on is separate to my football. I am leaving it all down to my agent.
