HILARIOUS LOOK BACK OFFERS A FINAL CHANCE TO ENJOY SEEING THE ORIGINAL TRAVEL MAN RICHARD AYOADE GUIDING STARS THROUGH A MINI-BREAK
IT’S a bitter-sweet moment as we reach this final compilation episode of Travel Man, as it’s the last ever time we’ll see Richard Ayoade with his Paddington-esque suitcase and striking outfits, grudgingly guiding a host of celebs on mini-breaks across the globe.
Over the past five years he’s taken famous faces on 43 trips, doling out facts and stats at a remarkable rate and entertainingly failing to enjoy so many of those memorable experiences.
He’s helped the show become one of our favourite series, turning each trip into a half hour filled with laughs and actual useful info too. Joe Lycett is the Man who will Travel in the future series, but for now we’ll go back to the archives one last time to enjoy Richard in all his grumpy glory.
This episode is subtitled Mind, Body and Soul, so it focuses on all the mental, physical and spiritual stuff Dicky and his guests have experienced across Europe and beyond.
Whether it’s an agonising-looking reflexology foot massage in Hong Kong with Jon Hamm, watching
Greg Davies getting beaten with birch twigs in Moscow, having a fish pedicure in Athens with Dawn French, enduring a sweltering sauna in Helsinki with Paul Rudd or a meditative gong bath in Ibiza with Jessica Knappett, Richard’s obvious dislike and discomfort elevates it all to a special plain.
Yes, we could watch someone go on a swanky all-expenses paid holiday and have a whale of a time, but where’s the fun in that?
