Injury may rule out Flament for rest of season
TOULOUSE-BOUND Wasps forward Thibaud Flament could’ve played his last game for the club after suffering an injury setback.
The second row is due to join the French giants upon the conclusion of his 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership season commitments with Wasps.
Having featured in 16 senior games during a breakthrough season while still a part of the club’s senior academy, the 6ft 8in former Loughborough University student has been a surprising exclusion from all three Wasps squads since the season restarted.
The Telegraph understands he suffered a foot fracture ahead of the Northampton Saints game which has ruled him out for six to eight weeks.
Given Wasps’ regular league season concludes in just under six weeks, with the possibility of the end-ofseason play-offs extending that period by a further three, Flament faces a race against time to sign off for his current club before heading on to the next chapter of his rugby career.
Another player who has yet to feature in the squads against Northampton Saints, Worcester Warriors and Sale Sharks is scrum-half Will Porter. This is due to the 21-yearold suffering a toe injury which carries an estimated return-to-play time of four to six weeks.
Wasps are well stocked in the department with Dan Robson, Ben Vellacott and Sam Wolstenhome all gaining game time since the restart.
Centre Juan de Jongh has been back in training after his hamstring issue while Zurabi Zhvania has a slight muscle issue that reduced his chances of featuring against Sale Sharks.
Second row Myles Edwards’ wait to make his Wasps debut will continue for a couple more weeks due to an ankle issue while hopes remain high that Kieran Brookes’ season isn’t over after his shoulder blow suffered against Northampton Saints in
round 14.
